Is It Necromancy?

Necroamncy as a classification of magic is often understood, confused with conjuration. When a conjurer "creates" an undead, they are really pulling magical fabric from the universe's background into a static form. Upon the destruction of the manifested undead, the weaving coils back up from whence it came. This is not necromancy, but those without formal magical knowledge may not choose to make the distinction.

True necromancy is a lifetime persuit, and functions much differently. In this case, a necromancer is taking  the physical remains or binding the soul of a deceased person, and forcing it into an earth-bound form again. This creature is basically permanent, and even retains memory and personality fragments, depending on the strength of the animating magics. This is true Necromancy. Very few openly admit to following this path, as those who would imprison the deceased are viewed as among the most terrible mortals in the world. Only through un-coerced permission can a necromancer raise or bind a spirit without being considered evil. In practice, this is an extremely rare event.
